Travelpro WalkAbout Lite 4 Rolling Tote "Blue" Review

I ordered this product because I am in graduate school and the textbooks are outrageously heavy! I researched this product against I think an Alpine version (orange is what I remember)that was cheaper, but did not state that it had replaceable parts like the Travelpro. I was interested in replaceable parts because you can extend the life of your product quite a bit for less money if replacement parts are available.

I like the TravelPro but the telescoping handle does not remain extended while using it. I think it is because the release button is smack dab in the middle of the top of the handle, where your hands have to hold the handle. So the palm of your hand keeps depressing the release button, and the handle retracts while you are attempting to steer the luggage, which is loaded with heavy books. I've had a couple of flip-overs due to this problem.

Also, regarding the two handle straps used to carry the luggage without the telescoping handle: if you don't velcro them together (velcro included), the handle strap located on the back of the luggage can drag on the ground. Ground to luggage, luggage to handle, handle to me touching my face = YUCK! So beware and keep the handles velcroed together.

Otherwise, I like the item. Although because of the problems I mentioned, I still am interested in the lower-priced Alpine version. I should have investigated to see if their product had replacement parts if necessary....hopefully this will help you to pick the best roller luggage!
