If you want a jacket that will stand up to anything you throw at it here it is. I've had this jacket for only about a month but I own other Filson products so I knew exactly what I was getting. Filson tin cloth will stand up to the following (based on my own personal experience with a pair of Filson "double tin" pants): A dog bite, a chain flying off of a chain saw (this did leave a mark but not on my leg), walking straight through about every sort of briar and thorn bush there is while out in the woods and any kind of severe weather there is. I've had those pants down in some serious muck and mud and they are un-phased and never leaked at all.I got this cruiser jacket just in time for "superstorm/hurricane Sandy" and I'm glad I had it. I was out in the pouring rain and wind for several hours and never felt one drop and the wind was powerless against it. Unlike a windbreaker or traditional rain coat you can actually get out and work in the weather in this jacket and it won't let you down. You WILL stay dry in this jacket.
My only "con" if you want to call it that is that tin cloth takes a little while to get broken in. I've worn it every day since I bought it and it's getting softer and easier to move in every time I put it on. For something you'll probably own the rest of your life that's not horrible. The jacket is fairly warm by itself but if you put a flannel shirt on or a shirt and vest on under it, it will keep you toasty. Don't let the price drive you away. It's rare to find a product that is this high of quality and will last for so long. You can buy junk your whole life over and over again or just buy one Filson and be done. It's money well spent. Hope this helps.
