Knox Cross Armored Shorts, Size 34

The Knox Cross Armored shorts appear to have replaced the older Multi-Sport shorts. There are some differences in the Cross shorts. The thigh coverage is a bit shorter, but the hip and thigh armor is two-piece, with a hinge to allow more comfortable wear. The hip and thigh armor is CE approved, as is the coccyx protector! I wore the Cross shorts underneath my AGV Solare mesh pants, and it was still comfortable even though I kept the hip pads with the AGV mesh pants, so I had two layers of hip protection on at the same time.

The Cross shorts are almost like a spandex/mesh material, and the Knox armor is removable so you can wash the shorts. Although you could wear the Cross shorts as underwear/briefs inside leather racing suits or riding pants, I chose to wear them over my normal briefs and did not feel too hot/warm in 80 degree weather. The Cross shorts are very comfortable and I have some more confidence and ease of mind as I ride knowing that I have solid protective gear where I need it most.

A lot of riding pants don't offer any hip or coccyx protection. Kevlar jeans and leather pants may be abrasion resistant, and some pants may have knee pads, but the hip and coccyx are very important. I have an Icon back protector, and I noticed other back protectors don't always go down to the coccyx, so the Knox Cross Shorts offer an additional advantage with this respect.

The sizing is very accurate. I have a 34 waist and wear size 34 pants, so the size 34 Cross shorts fit perfectly.
