There are several models of leather cases for the MacBook Air 11, sold under the PDair brand from Hong Kong by vendors on Amazon and eBay. One model holds the computer in a book in which it is operated. Another encloses it in portrait pouch with a magnetic flap. Those two models allow charging in the case.The model I chose is based on a small manilla envelope with string clasp. I like this model because it looked the coolest, provided the most protection around the edges, and took less table space to remove the computer (sideways) than the pouch model. Due to the total enclosure, there are no exposed edges which might strike ground in case of a drop. On the other hand, the computer must be removed from the case to access the charging port.
The case came in a nice presentation box that I will not want to discard. The black leather and white stitching are of the highest quality. The leather is not a single heavy thickness, but is of two padded layers. The outside layer is thin, smooth, soft and supple, and the inside layer is textured and stiffer. The case gratifies the senses of look, feel and smell. The computer fits inside perfectly, neither tight nor loose. The case makes it easy to hold and carry the computer securely without fear of it slipping out of hand.
The envelope model that I chose is called the "business type" by one vendor and "EX" model by another. The other two book and pouch models are obviously made of the same materials, and you can't go wrong with whichever one you prefer. They are beautiful items.
